AN OPEN LETTER TO SHEIK GUMI
An Open Letter

Sheik Gumi
You must use this newfound ‘super stardom’ to the betterment of this country. To educate, reconcile, relieve the destruction of lives and property, stop the hemorrhaging of the economy, and the exodus of foreign and domestic investors. Our country is in chaos.
You need to educate them that they are destroying their future. The children they stop from going to school are the ones that will support them in their old age from taxes and contributions to the economy. The farmers they attacked and killed daily are the ones that will sow the food we eat tomorrow. Every time they kill, severely injure someone, they have affected loans recoveries of banks and private lenders. If any of them are insured, they have impacted insurance payouts and insurance premiums. Food production in the north has decreased by 50%. Demand and supply will assure increase in prices. If it is an adult killed is a bread winner, the children will fall into severe poverty and may end up homeless. There are now so many displaced persons in the north and adding the

would severely impact the future of the region and that of the country. The window to a good live in Nigeria especially in the north is closing.
Yes, we need immediate dialogue on how we get here and how we get out of it. We need dialogue with all those directly affected and stakeholders.
Considering that an average cow cost about N300,000.00. 200 cows by three herders will equivalent 60 million dollars in assets 20 million dollars each. It is evident that herders are employees. The stakeholders must be engaged to understand that every output requires input. Therefore, the purchase of feed for their cattle.
It is inhumane to have a person and an animal walk over 4,000 miles night and day exposed to that many hazards. It is also unprofitable because the cows lose poundage.
You will need to dialogue governors and the federal government to create the infrastructure for loan structures in every State required for ranching. That will include mechanized farming for hay and land purchase. Every production and the exchange of goods and services produced requires input cost.
Who assume the blame mostly for this chaos? The elite that owns the cattle. They should have stopped this practice a long time ago. It is inhumane, it is a selfish means of using fellow human beings. The State government in the north and the federal government should have been prepared years ago. The refusal to assign individuals portfolios that will enable easy access to capital, to make us responsible, and to understand our needs has always been a problem. The refusal to join the rest of the world in structuring mortgage-backed securities that will create unprecedented employment and housing is an elephant in the room. Here we are killing each other for the meager available resources. Any society that fails to organize herself to provide the basic needs of her citizens will suffer the same faith.
Those who participated in any killing, kidnapping, damages to property, and rape must be punished to the full extent of the law. Because what happens tomorrow when autonomous cars, trucks, and buses roles to town would we have truck drivers and bus drivers, and taxi drivers start killing, damaging properties, raping, and kidnaping?
You will use this stardom to reconcile. You have confirmed that it is the Fulani's that are responsible for this mayhem. It will take a lot to build the trust again. The killings must stop today,
and reconciliation
must begin.
It took a lot of our people many years to build this nation. While building with our sweats, pains and aches we develop bonds in appreciation of every participants contribution to what we built. Let us enjoy this blessed country God made our home.
