Here is the venue for those who have suggestions as to how we resolve this problem. Problems include our violent electoral proccess, corruption, regional power struggle, and micromanagement of our political leaders. We ask for all to participate. Please be respectful. Nigeria A Failed State? Not in my Time.
The separatists and the government in Nigeria are at a face off with little consideration for the plight of the citizens and State of the federation. There is so much at stake and both parties should be careful with their rhetoric and the dangerous path they are leading the nation.
The separatists: You have shown us your strengths and your weaknesses: You articulated your frustration with ethic dominated power structure, the marginalization of some ethic groups, inadequacies in States resources redistribution, government discriminate response to unrests in different regions, economic stagnation without meaningful economic plan, the unrestrained, unaffordable salaries and corruption of the politicians, the dilapidated education system, unemployment, hunger, and anger of the citizens. The whole country applauds you as you express our collective frustration, anger, discontent, and disillusionment.
Your weaknesses are however so apparent. Where were you all these years when we needed your contribution, participation, and support? Each State have representatives in the federal government from each region of the country, where are they? Each State presently have a government what have they done? They can’t even copy Lagos State that is marginally performing. Could this be why they are paid outrageously to be silent? If we fought for change as vehemently as we are fighting for separation could we have gotten the leaders we want and the change we seek? Moreover, separation does not require force. What preparation have you made for separation? Have you consulted with the region you intend to represent? How would you know that majority of the populace you intend to represent want what you seek without a referendum? Take a second look at Quebec vs Canada, Britain vs EU, and Catalonia vs Spain. Separation in never impromptu it takes planning. Acceptance of the region or area represented, acceptance of the remaining part of the country, and acceptance of the world community that will prevent war. Are you ready for peaceful or forceful separation? A peaceful separation may take at least seven years. What do we do until then? Can we start to contribute, participate, and support the present country as passionately as we seek this separation and see if change is viable while we continue the peaceful separation plan which may not be necessary if changes we want is attained?
Present administration: You have shown us your strengths and your weaknesses: You have confronted and plugged the leakages in our treasury’s basket, your legacy. For those who are not aware of this administration’s achievements to date see http://www.signalng.com/presidency-highlights-57-achievements-buharis-administration/
Your administration’s weakness however includes communication. You have yet developed the information structure that will effectively disseminate your administration objectives and accomplishment. We need the daily plans and report of your administration. What you plan to do, work in progress, and accomplishments. This will leave little room speculation. Develop structures to capture information that will provide the platform for contribution, participation, support, and criticism from institutions, the citizens, and interest groups. The process creates good policies, understanding, and exposure of your objectives and will prepare us readily to contribute, participate, support, and prepared to follow. Your administration must be perceived to represent everyone. You must do all possible to communicate this to people that feel marginalized.
Your administration has not created the structures that will enable massive employment. Please concentrate on factors that will reduce risks. Reduction in the risks involved in exchanging our goods and services, in accessing capital to produce, in assurance of life, property, and our community. Assurances such as these will boost employment. Your administration has yet understood the economic advantage and the massive employment it will create in satisfying the basic needs of the people. In developed economies housing, agriculture, and security are structured. It is not hidden wealth that made this viable it is these structures that enable the wealth. The satisfaction of the needs of a society is what makes a business successful, it is also what makes a society successful. Every country has her own unresolvable problem, ours is electricity. We know you are working on it but may you be reminded that there are mobile gas turbines that could be installed and operational within months in States that have gas while the present available electricity could be diverted to States that do not have gas.
All Nigerians must be conscious of their rhetoric. We don’t want war, because many lives will be destroyed and our society will be chaotic. There are logical, constitutional, and legal means to express our needs. Fear and intimidation also will not create love for a nation. We need to communicate to alley our fears. We all need to participate, contribute and support, while the administration provides us the platform to do so. Suffering, death, hunger, destruction, of our children and grandchildren will not be in my time, I pray not in yours.
Happy birthday Nigerian!!!!!!
