Open the information gateway to capture newer ways of doing things.
If information gives us power and success, structuring the means to strengthen relationships with our admirable human resources that will support the traffic of information through uninterrupted pathway to decision makers in institutions and public service will capture newer ways of doing things, necessary to manage our bountiful resources, and afford our citizens, organizations, institutions, communities, States, and the whole society, power and success. ‘If you look at any kind of modern organization and you think; what are the foremost tools of power, you will find the answer is information’. Frontend information sourcing: Institutions, organizations, government agencies, and departments use frontend information sourcing to capture information from their clients, employees, and society. It is a source to solicit for participation, contribution, and support from a captured market. The venue for the clients to express gratitude, displeasure, meaningful ideas, imminent and immediate danger to self and the community, which contributes to better service, safer community, and business growth. All major internet network providers use this venue to capture information from their employees and tenants that improves their products and services. A communication structure that enables information from identifiable or anonymous participants’ traffic to decision makers. Frontend information sourcing builds relationships that benefits entities, public institutions, and the society.
Building an effective frontend information structure requires reliability, responsibility, and confidence in relationships between the information provider and the entity or public institutions. Since participants are contributing to the growth of the provider for better service, participants must be rewarded for participation. Such as appreciation through acknowledgement, by receipt, to contributors of information, assurance of intellectual property right, anonymity if requisitioned, confidence that each contribution is processed, and recognition of the participants when their contributions are utilized. Term contracted outside source may be used to collect information, acknowledge receipt of every participants, while management assure reliability, responsibility, accountability, and confidence of participants.
Media Information Sourcing; The media daily report on domestic and foreign events a source of information sourcing for individuals, government and institutions. However, in underdeveloped economy, there are limited competing producers. Medium and major industries therefore have less need to advertise while small businesses find hawkers cheaper to market their products. The media had crafted alternate means of raising capital, they charge individuals, organizations, and institutions willing to participate, contribute, and support the country. Without money important information that will benefit our nation is lost. The media have now concentrated their air time and print space for domestic news on political events and candidates; the industry that can afford the cost. Real contributions, participation, and support for the country by the whole society is marginalized.
The Federal government, State government, and institutions should develop a purchase arrangement of air time and print space with the media for specific times and special programs that will accommodate contribution, participation, and support of the public. It is through this information (170 million and more) that knowledge necessary for a greater nation can be accessed.
The internet and bloggers information sourcing: The internet is a great source of capturing information not only domestically but internationally. It enables communication to flow amongst and between individual, institutions and the government. However, we have not fully developed the structure to capture information. Changes to email addresses are not timely updated and sometimes individual email addresses are used for public department address. We have yet fully appreciated this medium of exchange and its usefulness in developing relationships. Public servants need updated equipment, software, and training necessary to organize, process, and place our collective information to decision makers for right decisions making. I hope we have a dedicated team in the information department that daily source cultural and industrial technology all over the world that are continually placed before decision makers.
Bloggers had flourished in Nigeria because it has become the easiest and cheapest means to divulge and share information. The government should strengthen defamation laws and provide us platforms to share and access information rather than engaging the bloggers in conflict. Bloggers will contribute to the society’s and the government information network. Unprofessional and unethical bloggers will soon fade away along the way. Give it time. Moreover, it is known all over the world that public officials are guilty until proven innocent. (Take a minute to see bloggers on Obama, other Presidents, and Public officials in the U.S) ‘Without debate, without criticism no administration and no country can succeed and no republic can survive’ JFK.
Institutions, organizations and professional’s information sourcing. The relationships between and within individuals, institution, organization and the government must be continually nurtured for a greater society. There are thousands of theses at the university that will contribute immense information to government decision making. Government should provide the blue print of her program to the public and invite debate and criticism from institutions, professionals, and interest groups. It is from these contribution, support and participation that a useful bill is produced that becomes law. We must stop micro managing.
Our neighbour’s information sourcing: If our neighbours per capital income is $30,000.00 per year and ours is $1000.00 per year, we will not only want to know what we are doing wrong, but what they are doing right. The information is always there if we look hard enough.
