A country is built by communities
Every society is made of many communities. It is the individuals in each community that determines her future. If this is true, how and what may we as a community do, to make our lives and the lives of our members better? Everything starts locally how do we develop relationships between each other, our community, and our institutions?
(1) How do we develop relationship between each other, the community and our institutions?
(a) Our needs from the community: If you need a job or you are available for odd jobs that your next neighbour is looking for how do you find each other? If your house pet is missing and it is three houses away how would you know where to look? If your car needed a part that is too expensive to purchase a new one but available in your community by someone whose older car is parked for some time and willing to give it all away, how will you find each other? If you are in need of a tutor for your child how do you find someone? If you need to sell your car, furniture, appliances, home hardware, etc. so you can upgrade where and how do you find someone who need what you want get rid of? How do you buy, sell, and give away with each other?
(b) Our contribution to our society: If you find a stranger looming around the community how do you inform your neighbours? How do you share with each other of imminent or potential danger, such as a loose electrical pole that could fall down on our children? How do we engage our counsellors collectively about our needs? How do we express our discontent with our counsellors anonymously to avoid reprisal when they have not performed their duties? If we are aware of a person that has committed a bad act in your community how do you share this information without reprisal? We should have venues to share our ideas, our discontent, and our love for our community.
(c) Our socialization: We sometimes need to share our joy, our achievement, and our sorrow with our community. We want to express our joy of our engagement, our marriage, and our new born child. We must have a place do these things at the least cost. When we graduate from school or get a deserved promotion from work, we should have a venue to share our joy with our neighbours. Likewise we should have venues to share with our neighbour our sorrow such as death in our family.
It is important that individuals have layers of interrelationships with each other, their immediate community and with their institutions. The newspaper, the television, and the radio continually provide us with information between us and our institution. The more venues we have to enhance the interrelationship between the individuals, the community, and the institution the greater our society will be.
I ask that you join us at this forum. Let us start today. It will save us money, make our community safer, increase our interpersonal relationship, enable us to supervise each other, and nudge our community elected officials towards our needs. We will all become more involved and more informed.
